The professional Tournament Directors Association, better known as Poker TDA, is the body that manages poker rules and regulations. Founded in 2001 by former poker players Matt Savage, Linda Johnson, Jan Fisher, and David Lamb, this organization has more than 2,500 members in more than 63 countries. Its members include the managers of major live poker rooms, circuits, and independent tournaments.
When a hand is dealt, a player can raise or fold. The raiser must match the previous player’s bet or add to it. The amount of the raise depends on the stakes of the game. If a player has a higher hand than the other players, he can raise. However, if he’s the only player at the table, he or she cannot raise.
The game is played with five cards. Each player has two hole cards. The first two cards are dealt face down. The second two cards are called community cards. The fourth community card is called the “turn”. Another round of betting follows. This goes on until the final community card is dealt.
